Martyr is a heavy / speed / power metal band from Utrecht / The Netherlands that exists since 1982. During their career, a few demo cassettes were released as well as a number of long players. The general public first became acquainted with Martyr in 1984 when Roadrunner Records released the ' Dutch Steel ' compilation album.

Martyr's contribution to this release entitled ' Snow And Fire ' is still a highlight on the band's setlist today. In 1985 their song ' En Masse (Stand Or Die) ' appeared on the notorious ' Metal Massacre VI ' album from the legendary U.S.A. based ' Metal Blade ' record label. Both releases gained interest from metalheads from all over the world.

The debut mini album ' For The Universe ', which was released the same year, nowadays is considered a genuine heavy metal classic. The well-known website ' Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives ' states: "Martyr's songwriting is vastly superior to most of its competitors".

Its successor ' Darkness At Time's Edge ' (1986) made Martyr's fanbase grow larger and larger and the band gigged and performed all over Europe. Martyr even was aired on MTV's 'Headbangers Ball' show.

After a few years however the band members decided to go separate ways and explore other musical directions in acts such as Medallion, Mindscape, Syrenade, Vangouw, Hot Legs and Wild Ride .

Needless to say, Martyr went on hiatus for a while... The flame however never flickered out and reignited around 2005 when they were asked to reunite to play old school metal festivals such as Heavy Maniacs Fest , Keep It True and Headbangers Open Air .

After the very successful reunion shows Martyr was back on track which resulted in the ' Fear The Universe ' compilation (2009, Rusty Cage Records ) and their highly anticipated comeback album ' Circle Of 8 ' on Metal Blade Records in 2011.

In 2014, Martyr was featured on the ' Dutch Steel (80's Metal From The Netherlands) ' compilation and their sophomore " after reunion " studio album ' You Are Next ' was released in 2016 by Into The Limelight Records .

The group frequently performs home and abroad, as a headliner or as a support act such as Manilla Road , Lizzy Borden, Saxon, Iced Earth and Trivium . The absolute highlights in Martyr's career so far have been three tours in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Their performance at the sold out 2019 edition of the legendary True Thrash Fest in Osaka was recorded and released on their most recent output ' Live In Japan ' which was released worldwide through Pt78 Records (The Netherlands) in co-operation with Rock Stakk Records (Japan). The album contains songs from their career-spanning back catalogue.

Martyr is releasing their new full-length on 24 February 2022. The 3 previously released songs ' No Time For Goodbyes', 'Fire Of Rebellions' and ' Raise Your Horns, Unite !' already showed an excellent performance beforehand. With 2 online listening sessions in December 2021 the band got confirmation that this material was the best thing Martyr has ever produced and it will be the next step forward. All songs are written by MARTYR, produced, mixed and mastered by drummer Rick Valcon at RA Recordings and are of excellent production quality. The new artwork is created by Wasi Kendedes .

"Planet Metalhead" will prove Martyr is still a force to be reckoned with.

Incoming! Led By Lanterns

quartet Led By Lanterns release their long-awaited debut album Paralysis. Full to the brim with bouncy hooks, heavy riffs and soaring vocals, the 10-track release explores mental health in its many forms.

To celebrate the album release, Led By Lanterns have shared their new single 'Satellite'. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/TVjZxXkJJMw

Lead vocalist Shaun Hill explains:

"This song is about over-thinking, something I really struggle with, and the depression it can cause. It references space, as in times like this it can often feel like you are a million miles away from reality. This song also touches on the pain it can cause to other people."

Stream/purchase Paralysis here: http://www.ledbylanterns.com

Led By Lanterns have announced rescheduled dates for their UK headline tour, with support from TRIBELESS. Originally confirmed for January/February, the shows will now take place in April due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The album is inspired by the situations that leave you feeling powerless, being trapped in your own body and mind, unable to reach out to those around you. Overthinking ('Satellite'), managing self-expectations ('Six Feet Down') and accepting that relationships may grow apart ('Disconnected') are just some of the many relatable topics on Paralysis, that will connect with music fans across the globe.

Incoming! Tungsten is heavy!

Swedish symphonic metal quartet Tungsten have released their new single 'Come This Way', taken from their third album, Bliss, due for release 17th June via Arising Empire.

Watch the video to 'Come This Way' here: https://youtu.be/j99DncpPFfY
Pre-order Bliss here: https://tungsten.lnk.to/bliss

The catchy, melodic and mid-tempo song, 'Come This Way', incorporates synths and stomping heaviness. The accompanying music video, directed in Stockholm by Ted Lindén, uses spooky visuals to make for a stark contrast. On the new single, vocalist Mike Andersson comments:

"It’s also a bit different to the rest of the album but, on the other side, all songs are quite different to each other in a nice way".

The quartet's third offering is their heaviest and darkest album to date, with the typical ingredients that define Tungsten's music also breaking new ground and exploring fresh territories. The hooklines are stronger and more dynamic, with lyrics taking a darker turn whilst still focusing on relatable themes. Andersson continues:

"It all came naturally. Creating and recording this album truly put us in touch with the feeling of bliss. Nick and Karl, who wrote the music, have really shown their skills and musical talents. Bliss explores new musical ideas but is still based in the genre that we established in the band from the beginning."

Bliss was recorded at Harm Studios, Trelleborg (Sweden). Nick Johansson once again took care of the mixing, mastering and production duties with the albums artwork taken care of by Andreas Marschall. Bassist Karl Johansson states:

"We really hope that Bliss will reach an even broader fanbase than before. So much pain, sweat and love has been put into this album so we're truly excited to introduce Bliss to the world".

Anders Johansson agrees;
"This album might be one of the hardest ones I've had to record. Nick is close to a perfectionist at the production helm, so if I can find something that has been good about the pandemic it might be the fact I could spend many more hours in the drum studio just to practise and develop my technique".

Tungsten are ready to enter the live scene in 2022 and are already confirmed for Oslo Metal Winter fest in Norway as well as Sabaton Open Air in August, 2022.

Tungsten - Come This Way

Tungsten were formed in 2016 when drummer Anders Johansson (HammerfallYngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising ForceManowar) asked his sons Nick Johansson (guitars) and Karl Johansson (bass) if they were interested in starting a brand new band with him.

Tungsten's music has become synonymous with melodies, industrial power metal, and hints of Northern Folk music. Tungsten's first album, We Will Rise, was released in September 2019 with the track 'The Fairies Dance' close to passing 3 million streams on Spotify alone.

A year later, in November 2020, Tungsten released their second album, called Tundra. The song 'King of Shadows' was chosen as the first single, and has since gone on to become an anthem for Tungsten when performing live on stage.

Tungsten are:
Mike Andersson | Vocals
Karl Johansson | Bass & Screams
Nick Johansson | Guitar
Anders Johansson | Drums

1945 say heavy metal is not for sale!

Formed in the spring of 2016 (Salamanca/ Spain), Nineteen forty-five is the result of the union of 5 experienced musicians from other bands (K-OS, Evil Rise, Sarah Evil..) They wield an eclectic, vigorous mix of metal styles, full of strength and speed.

The band released their new album "Heavy Metal Is Not For Sale" in December 2021 (Independent release on CD and digital) and prove that metal is indeed alive and well and NOT for sale!

11 songs are on the album including a cover of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" and each song is a satisfying slab of traditional heavy metal.
The five piece consists of :

 Sarah García: tonsils
- Javier Rubio: bass
- Gorka RC: shredder
- Diego González: shredder
- Jose Angel koko: hits things for a living

We talked to vocalist Gorka RC in January 2022 about the album and their metal.....

Tell us about 1945. When did you form?
1945 is the result of some musicians friends that we played in other local bands (Salamanca-Spain)  that have already disappeared and who wanted to champion HEAVY METAL spirit  with pride and honour.
It happened in 2016 and 5 years later with have recorded our first full album.

Where you in bands before?
Koko, Javier and i were playing for almost 15 years in K- ØS, known thash metal band in Spain.
Sara was playing in EVIL RISE, and Diego has his own personal project MACRÓFAGO.
We are all veterans.

How would you describe your music?
We play an eclectic and vigorous mix of Heavy Metal styles. We are an open mind band, regarding what we play.

ACT 1 was your first EP? Released in 2018?
Yes you are right. It was our first recording assault as 1945

Your new album is being released called “Heavy Metal Is not for sale?” ?
Yes it is so. Just fresh out of the oven and in full promotion of the same.

The title of the album is a serious and clear statement of intent. HEAVY METAL IS NOT FOR SALE , and we're here to shout it out loud.

What happened between the EP and this new record?
Well, the best thing is to have had a first experience with the public and our songs, to be able to play in addition to Spain in the United Kingdom and to gain strength to continue making music.
The worst, it took almost 2 years to finish the album due to the pandemic.

How does it differ?
There is a natural evolution in our musical ideas and compositions, in addition to a creative maturity.

How did production and recording go?
We are lucky to have our own recording studio and two technicians in the band (javi y Diego), in addition to my experience as a producer, so everything has been self-produced. slowly but surely.

10. Any live dates planned?
We say goodbye to the year (2021) with a concert that says goodbye to our previous singer (sarah) and welcoming the new one (Sheyla)
It was an informal concert playing between friends.
On February 18 we presented the album at home (Salamanca) and we are confirmed for the ZLIVE fest next june, playing with such important bands as Blind Guardian, Lacuna Coil , Korpiklaani, Moonspell , Beast in Black  etc…
The rest is pending of covid pandemic evolution.

"To end, thanks for your time and your support. We hope to see you from stage very soon.
Stay Hard – Stay Metal"

Samantha Fish announces UK tour dates

Due to the pandemic and Covid restrictions in the UK and Europe, Samantha Fish has rescheduled her February 2022 UK tour to October 2022.  Tickets for all shows remain valid.

Three new dates have been added to the tour including Oxford Academy 2 (October 15), Glasgow St Luke’s (October 21) and Southampton The Brook (October 22).

Samantha’s very special guest at all shows is Wille & The Bandits.

Tickets are available from www.alttickets.comwww.gigantic.comwww.ticketmaster.co.uk and www.samanthafish.com.

Samantha will perform songs from her latest album “Faster.” The album includes the singles “Twisted Ambition”, “All Ice, No Whiskey”, “Better Be Lonely” and “Faster”. Samantha will also perform songs from her rich catalogue including the popular radio single “Bulletproof” from her “Kill Or Be Kind” album.

Her current album “Faster” is the follow-up to 2019's acclaimed “Kill or Be Kind,” and marks Fish's first collaboration with producer Martin Kierszenbaum (Lady Gaga, Sting), who co-wrote eight of the album's 12 new songs and helped the genre-defying guitarist, singer, and songwriter to refine her sound and strike out into bold new sonic territory.

After launching her recording career in 2009, Samantha quickly established herself as a rising star in the contemporary blues world. Since then, the charismatic singer-guitarist-songwriter has earned a reputation as a rising guitar hero and powerful live performer, while releasing a series of acclaimed albums that have shown her restless creative spirit consistently taking her in new and exciting musical directions.

The New York Times called Fish, "An impressive blues guitarist who sings with sweet power," and "One of the genre's most promising young talents." Her hometown paper, the Kansas City Star wrote: “Samantha Fish has kicked down the door of the patriarchal blues club and displays more imagination and creativity than some blues veterans exhibit over the course of their careers."

As far as Samantha is concerned, her musical future is an open road. "I'm never going be a traditional blues artist, because that's not who I am," says Samantha. "But it's all the Blues for me. When Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf came out, what they were doing didn't sound like anything that had been done in Blues before. You've got to keep that kind of fire and spirit. I'm never going to do Muddy Waters better than Muddy Waters, so I have to be who I am and find my best voice.”

Italian Experimental Metal/Stoner combo FIRPO CHOMPEAVY have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath Records for their debut album "Smoking 45", due for release on March 18th, 2022 worldwide.

In 2016 the two friends Cristian Assirati (bass guitar) and Cristian “Mudo” Pietrantoni (vocals & guitar) wanted to fullfill one of their biggest goals and formed a stoner band. It all
started with those two creating a music project called FIRPO CHOMPEAVY. After a while they wanted to take it to the next level and they needed a drummer:that's how Moreno Sessa joined the band. The three guys recorded their first EP “We Are All A Race Of Dead” in 2017.
Shortly after “Mudo” decided to leave the band to work on other projects. From there on Cristian Assirati continued writing songs by himself as he didn't want to give up his musical vision (his dream of being in a band). Even though he was about to move to Scotland in
2019, he wanted to perform all his songs one last time in Italy in front of a big audience. To do this he needed a singer which he found in Elia Borelli and due to a lucky coincidence he also found a guitar player in Giorgio Cimoli. After this show they decided to keep on playing together even though the distance made it more difficult and they had to adapt to write everything online. During 2019, the band worked on their first EP “Dirty Flying Cucumber” which was released in 2020. The bands style slowly started to move away from stoner rock and started to be more experimental. Wormholedeath Records found a liking in the band's music and offered them a record deal. Under this label the band will release their first album “Smoking 45” which is coming out in 2022. Even though the the album isn't out yet, the band is already full of ideas for the next chapter.

Incoming! VEIO

Portland based Heavy Alternative Rock band VEIO has released the official music video for their newest single, "Janus." The single was produced by Stephan Hawkes (Chelsea GrinAttilaI Declare War) at Interlace Audio in Portland. "Janus" is a fresh sound for the band and the next evolution in VEIO'S unique sonic alchemy.

"Janus is a song about trials and tribulations of the past, present and future. We've overcome a lot of adversity in our time as a band and the song is about us trying to endure and overcome." - VEIO

Veio melds alt-rock’s anthemic allure to the exhilarating adventurism of prog metal like few before them.

The roots of Veio – a name taken from an ancient Etruscan city – reach back to the childhood musical collaborations of Cam and Brett Byrd (vocals/guitar and drums respectively). The brothers formed Veio after college, with the lineup completed by bassist Kris Lewis 5 years ago. With the 2017 debut album Infinite Light / Desperate Shadows and tireless touring efforts with the likes of SeetherTremonti, and RED, the band earned legions of loyal fans. The band's follow up 2020 album, Vitruvian, saw its first single, “Flare of Defiance,” storm the Billboard Rock Chart and entered Active Rock Radio’s Top 30.

Now a part of the revamped Silent Majority Group (ParamoreCreedSevendust), Veio’s music is garnering lofty comparisons to the thoughtful, artsy rock of Tool and A Perfect Circle, along with Thrice’s muscular, ultra-authentic optimism and the technical yet tuneful prog metal of Tesseract and Mastodon.

“We've always strived to have a unique sound that a mainstream audience can enjoy while still being mainly influenced by prog and metal bands,” Lewis states. “We hope both sides of the spectrum will enjoy the new music.”
Consistently creating soaring, singable material without compromising their love for odd time signatures and challenging polymeters, Veio displays the single-minded talent, passion, and work ethic to remain a chart fixture for years to come.
