The Floydian Slip comes to ROX Radio!

Every Thursday on ROX Radio at 9pm (UK time)

From 14th April you can listen to the weekly "Floydian Slip" radio show right here on ROX Radio.

"Floydian Slip" is a one-hour, weekly radio journey through the history of the rock band Pink Floyd.

Host Craig Bailey works classic Floyd songs, deep album cuts and Floyd’s unique brand of ambient segues into a seamless blend of music and sound best described as a listening experience.

Accented with succinct and thoughtful commentary, “Floydian Slip” is programming that becomes a weekly destination for classic rock fans.

History of the show

Craig aired his first episode of "Floydian Slip" in January 1989 on Ithaca College's 106-VIC (now VIC Radio) in Ithaca, N.Y., as a senior Television-Radio major. He also produced it for two FM stations in the Burlington, Vt./Plattsburgh, N.Y. market between 1994 and 2009.

In 2009, Craig began syndicating the show from his home studio in the Burlington, Vt., area. He established the Random Precision Radio Network with a single affiliate, and has grown the network to include 110 stations in the United States, Canada and overseas.

About your host Craig Bailey

Craig Bailey has worked on-the-air since 1985 and has produced and hosted "Floydian Slip" for nearly as long. With more than 1,300 episodes under his belt, he's recognized as a de facto expert on Pink Floyd.

He and his show have received attention in — or acted as a resource for — media as diverse as Billboard, VH1, The Dallas Morning News, MacFormat, Yahoo! Music, Relix, and The Ottawa Citizen.

He was featured in "Pink Floyd: Album by Album" by Martin Popoff, published in 2018; and was quoted in the book "Reinventing Pink Floyd: From Syd Barrett to The Dark Side of the Moon" by Bill Kopp. He also wrote the foreword to "Speak to Me: The Legacy of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon," edited by Russell Reising and published in 2006.

Outside the studio

In his time outside the studio, Craig's a website developer, Apple fan, dog lover, part-time actor and writer.

He's the developer of Read My Play™, a free script exchange service that helps playwrights share feedback on works-in-progress.

A Connecticut theatre company has tentatively scheduled a premiere of his one-act "Mitch Maclay Sings Just for You" for 2023. Another of his one-acts, "Valaise," ran outside Toronto in October 2020. His latest is a short thriller called "The Mockingbird's Nest." All scripts are available for download at Playwrights' Center.

A Vermont native, he's lived in the Burlington, Vt., area since '91.

Live review: Willie and the Bandits. Robin2, Bilston, 7 April 2022

Wille and the Bandits steal the show....!

The Robin2 has played host to the band before and they rocked the place then and REALLY rocked it tonight!

Openining tonight was acoustic guitarist/vocalist Mike West who was nothing if not enthusatic and keen to win the audience over. He did with his catchy (if a tad repetitive) songs that ranged from modern country to Americana folk music. It's always tough to play an acoustic gig and credit to Mike for choosing this way of performing. His songs are well written if a little generic and he plays that acoustic guitar like the strings are made of iron not steel. Fuck knows how they didn't break under that punishment. His vocal cords took some punishment too as he sang in a loud, gruff, tone. Passionate and forceful but a little too full on for the songs he was singing. It was almost as though he was trying to emulate an acoustic Zakk Whylde. Yup, that sound. Didn't really work for him. Perhaps a softer tone would be better Mike? (4/10)

With the crowd warmed up, it was Willie & The Bandits' time to show Bilston the way they rock.
In the 3 years since we last saw them they have grown incredibly in terms of musicality, confidence and performance ability. They now play, move and perform with the confidence of a live seasoned band as they played songs old and new from previous albums to the new "When The World Stood Still". Each song was performed perfectly. No fuck-ups, no hesistation and a decent sound from the venue.
All the songs we know and love were there including the epic renditions, slide gloriousness, pure rock n rollers and ballads. There's something for everyone at a WATB show.

The longer songs really show off the abilities of frontman and lead guitarist Willie Edwards. He plays guitar and slide with a level of technicality that makes it look easy. Trust me, it ain't!

The rockers saw the band really let loose and show they can rock as hard as any of their peers. Again, the band's confidence makes them very entertaining to watch. The band are tight and always musical.

Roll on the next time we see Willie and The Bandits! 9/10 CAG & AS

Check em ou! The Virginmarys

The Virginmarys are a brotherhood of raw power, huge riffs and seamless  musicianship between drummer Danny Dolan and guitarist/vocalist Ally Dickaty. They are among the most authentic and widely respected rock bands of their time,  having stuck to their own blend of explosive ‘heart on sleeve’ rock’n’roll from the off. The band have played with Queens Of The Stoneage, been championed by Slash  and collaborated on stage with Frank Turner which goes a little way in highlighting  the diverse appeal of their music.

Having released 3 critically acclaimed albums playing as a trio, Danny and Ally  decided to take on the next phase as a power duo and powerful it certainly is.

Exploding onto the rock scene with their debut album 'King of Conflict', which hit #3  on the Billboard New Artist Alternative Chart and #8 on the

Billboard Heatseekers Chart, The Virginmarys (Macclesfield, UK) were dubbed the  buzz band of SXSW.

They received major support from US Active Rock and Alternative radio, press  acclaim from Rolling Stone, Alternative Press and USA Today.

The band followed up with their second album Divides, which was hailed by Apple  Music, Spotify, Yahoo! Music, and took the band to the main stage of Leeds and  Reading Festival.

The Virginmarys are on tour in the UK throughout March and release their highly  anticipated first single ‘The Meds’ March 18th.

Based in Fresno, California, Haunt is the brainchild of singer/guitarist Trevor William Church, and in July 2022, he proudly returns with new album, Windows of Your Heart. For the most part, Church adhered to his tried-and-true methodologies for writing and recording this full-length - but, discerning listeners will notice a difference in the guitar solos this time around. Whereas on past Haunt records, the lead breaks were constructed around two-guitar tradeoffs, this time Church reinvented the solos with a single guitar, relying on pinch harmonics and whammy bar as key elements. However, longtime fans will be relieved to know that Haunt's trademark guitar harmonies remain fully intact and unsullied.

As on previous albums, Church built Windows of Your Heart around a few key songs to be featured in the live set. The title track is one such foundational piece, featuring catchy riffs, big hooks and a slightly different guitar approach for Haunt that straddles the line between heavy metal and hard rock. As for other standout songs on the record, Church quickly points to the barn-burning opener, "Mercenaries", plus "Father Time" - which treads familiar lyrical territory for Haunt by musing on the dizzying speed with which time flies by. The single is also noteworthy for the readily discernible Ozzy-isms in Church's vocal melodies and timbre. The resemblance is not coincidental, but is an intentional tribute to the Prince of Darkness. Church explains, "Ozzy Osbourne gave me the courage to be a singer. He taught me how to be a singer. My music naturally goes toward that."

This new live configuration has already been battle-tested with eight shows under their belts, and many more to come - including a 20-date run through the western half of North America in April 2022, supported by Screamer, Traveler and Saber.
