Fresh Blood! Born & Raised

BORN & RAISED is a 5-piece hard rock/metal band from Dallas , TX that started back in 2008 in Denton. Influenced by metal bands of the era such as TOOL , Pantera , System of a Down , Slipknot , Dream Theater , etc..., they created a unique metal sound referred to by many as a refreshing blend of thrash , progressive , rock , metal , and alternative music.

The band members have worked incredibly hard to be where they are today, but even though they've gone through a number of lineup changes, they've managed to maintain their integrity and focus. Since they were asked to open up for King Diamond back in 2012, Born & Raised has gone on to open for such national acts as Flotsam & Jetsam , Texas Hippie Coalition , Cowboy Mouth , Cowboys From Hell Paso , The Heroine , Saturate , Philm , Hemlock , Warbringer , Final Drive , Chris Poland (Megadeth) , the late Nick Menza ( Megadeth ), and Ohm .

After the release of their third album ' Intermezzo ' and with a fresh lineup of talented musicians, the band is looking to overcome the Coronavirus pandemic and get back on the road. The foundation on a new album has already begun and the search for new venues, shows, festivals, and tours is in the works.

FRESH BLOOD! Them Evils new song

After 2 years of touring their previous release “Rollin’ Stoned and Livin’ Free”, Them Evils are kicking things up a notch with tales from the road with new single “Where Ya Gonna Crash Tonight?”, to be released on Friday, 5/29. The song shows the band exploring new territories and maturing in their writing, while maintaining the signature sound of "Classic Rock, Modern Roll" that captured the attention of fans around the world.

“Where Ya Gonna Crash Tonight?” is their most upbeat track to date featuring heavy guitar tones, pounding drum sounds, and catchy vocal melodies that stand alone from the band’s previous work. Part of this is due to their recent collaborations with Kevin "Thrasher" Gruft (Escape The Fate) Aaron Edwards (Sick Puppies, Black Veil Brides) and producer Jim Kaufman (Danny Worsnop, The Black Moods, Night Riots).

Drummer David Delaney II says " 'Where Ya Gonna Crash Tonight?' is a song that reflects on our experiences while on tour. There's always a level of uncertainty when waking up in a bus and heading to the next city to play a show. You never know where a night is going to take you when you are having a good time and living in the moment. But there is an inevitable question that comes up sooner or later - "Where Ya Gonna Crash Tonight?". The lyrics in the song give details on what we go through on a daily basis living the "Rock N' Roll" lifestyle that people daydream about".

He continues: "When we sat in a writing room with Thrasher and Aaron we instantly hit it off. After slamming a few beers and sharing tour stories we knew that we were going to accomplish exactly what we were setting out to do! Once the writing/demo sessions were over - we immediately set up recording time with our good friend and producer, Jim Kaufman, at his home studio. Working with Kaufman is a humbling experience of its own. He's a guy that makes you feel comfortable contributing ideas and pushing you to achieve something better than before. With all his knowledge of production he was able to channel the energy of the demo and catapult it to the highest level – we were all speechless when hearing the final product. With the time that's gone by since our last release, we couldn't be more stoked on getting back at it with 'Where Ya Gonna Crash Tonight?'."

Their previous EP "Rollin' Stoned and Livin' Free" was enthusiastically received with placements on Key Rock playlists at all major streaming services, and the band supported that release with more than 100 live dates in 2018 that included a national headlining club tour with stops at Shiprocked, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, and main stage @ Rock On The Range. 2019 saw the band supporting Pop Evil, Of Mice and Men, The Black Moods and He Is Legend, as well as festival appearances at Exit 111 and Rock USA. Positive Press looks were posted at Kerrang, Loudwire, AXS, Rock Revolt, Alternative Addiction and others that added to the bands critical acclaim.

The band plans to continue touring as they soon as they can safely do so, with tours and festival dates currently being explored for the latter part of 2020.

Fresh Blood: Chasing Ghosts

Chasing Ghost's new single "Bring Me the Suffering" is a good song. Well produced and shows a band with real potential. Give the single a listen.

Born of a passion to create dark and melodic music, Milton Keynes based British metal outfit Chasing Ghosts are resurging with EP and title track Bring Me Suffering to be released Spring 2020. The EP (out 12th June) is no doubt their biggest and most ambitious record yet, a union of haunting female harmonies and natural somber strings, resulting in an evolution of all the darker elements in their already present sound since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album in 2018.

Preceding the EP release will be the single and video for title track Bring Me Suffering (out 22nd May); brooding, atmospheric and full of emotion, featuring the sorrowful melodies of Meghan Pettitt (ex The Eden House). Every lyric painting a vision of torment, contempt and cathartic release, through the acceptance of what lies ahead. The video; symbolic, gripping, emotive and encapsulating, a vision of Bring Me Suffering from concept through to fruition.

Each individual track of the EP has been written to ignite raw and pure emotions, from the tragedy of 'A Darker Place' to the all-consuming rage within 'Until The End', transcending the listener on an immersive and incandescent journey. The full potential of these songs has been perfectly captured within the mix and mastering by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Myrkur, Paradise Lost, Ghost).

Chasing Ghosts’ 2020 releases follow on from their 2018 album ‘These Hollow Gods’ which received international press acclaim from the likes of Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Total Rock, Classic Rock, Fireworks, Powerplay, Rock Hard, Rock Tribune and Sweden Rock to name a few. Chasing Ghosts live record boasts national and international headline and festival appearances, and looks forward to returning to the live stage once again in support of Bring Me Suffering once the industry has re-opened its doors.

Stream, Share, Review and Feature ‘Bring Me Suffering’ single and video as of Friday 22nd May 2020; 10:00am UK.
With 3-track EP release to follow on Friday 12th June 2020.
Available to stream / download via Spotify, Apple Music and all other major outlets.

INCOMING! Hot new release from No Angels

MARYANNE SCANDIFFIO's NO ANGELS new album "This Ain't No Heaven" rocks!!

No Angels is “in your face rock n’ roll,” says co-founder and lead guitarist Robbie Parker.

Formed in late 1992, this power trio with lead singer MaryAnn Scandiffio provides straight ahead, no-nonsense rock.

MaryAnn Scandiffio, whose voice is probably one of the best-kept secrets in American hard rock, is a
well-established artist in Europe. In the early, to mid-1980s she fronted the New York heavy metal outfit known as Blscklace, a band which she also founded. After signing with the Belgium label Mausoleum Records, Blacklace would produce two albums followed by videos and live performances in Europe including headlining Belgium's biggest hard rock festival at the time. Back in the States, the band became the opening act for; Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, The Plasmatics, Billy Sheehan, Joe Perry Project, Zebra and Humble Pie, among other national acts.

Scandiffio found her band rising in hard rock charts, with record sales in the tens of thousands. Though the growing success of Blacklace, Scandiffio had become a star in her own right, drawing large crowds at record signings and personal appearances and even being featured on the cover of Hit Parader...  more

INCOMING! Angel's second album out July

ANGEL – A Woman's Diary -
Chapter II out on July 24, 2020 1. Never Again 2. Streetchild 3. Don't Believe 4. Imprisoned 5. Do You Hear My Cry 6. Eg Ser 7. Happy Birthday 8. My Desire 9. Rock In The Sea 10. Silence 11. Angel Maria 12. Goodbye 13. Angel Maria's Poem

"A Woman's Diary - Chapter II" is the diary of Helena Iren Michaelsen's life turned into lyrics and music, captured on an album. All songs and lyrics are personal and raw, and uncensored. The songs on this album are leading the listener through waves of different emotions: There are songs that will touch you deeply, while others give the listener something to think about. And some songs also come with a clear message. Helena Iren Michaelsen comments: "As we all know life has its up and downs. There is love and happiness, there is disappointment and anger, there is hardship and unfairness, and everything else. Most of the time people do not dare to talk openly about certain things they have been exposed to in life, because they are afraid to be stigmatized or become subject of rumors around them, or only to appear too different from the people around and be judged for it. To be the black sheep, if you want to call it that way. I have nothing to hide, I dare to completely be myself and talk about everything openly and honestly. And I dare to be myself no matter what people may say or think about me. This album gives a good insight into who I am in mind and soul, not only as the artist I am, but also as the woman behind it. All lyrics are about my own life and the things that happened and are happening along the way. I've written some of the songs at the age of 12, and now they found their way on this album, which makes them very special for me." Producer Oliver Philipps brought Helena's visions to life, since he exactly understood how the music should embrace Helena's lyrics due to the close and special artistic connection both share with each other.

The new album of Helena Iren Michaelsen’s solo project ANGEL – available as CD Digipak as well as download & stream. • Produced and arranged by Oliver Philipps. • Mastered by Tom Müller at Flatliners Studio. • Cover artwork by Jan Yrlund (Darkgrove Design). DISCOGRAPHY 2005 • Don’t Wanna Run (Single) 2005 • A Woman’s Diary – Chapter I 2019 • Angel Maria (Single) 2020 • A Woman’s Diary – Chapter II

Fore formed

Former KREATOR bassist joins VENOM INC/MASSACRE members in punk band FORE; first songs available

Christian “Speesy” Giesler (KREATOR bassist 1994-2019) has teamed with Florida duo Jeramie Kling (VENOM INC, MASSACRE, THE ABSENCE) and Taylor Nordberg (MASSACRE, THE ABSENCE) in the punk outfit, FORE. The lineup is rounded out by vocalist/lyricist Brian Stephenson (OLD JAMES, SKULL FIST).

FORE have released two songs, “What’s Right For You”, and “Today We Rise (No Tomorrow)” which can be streamed/purchased on the band’s Bandcamp page.

On the formation of the group, guitarist Nordberg said: “Jeramie and I both love that late 80s/early 90s punk like BAD RELIGION, PENNYWISE, THE OFFSPRING, NOFX, so we decided it was time for us to make a punk band.  We had already worked with Speesy and Brian in our “One Song In One Day” quarantine series, so we knew they were talented, pro, and easy to work with.”

Speesy added “So excited about a new band! Taylor asked me if I wanted to do something punk-like, and I agreed immediately as everyone knows, I'm a very, very big punk fan. From the idea to now, only 5 or 6 weeks have past.”

The group’s first songs, along with the rest of the band‘s debut album, were mixed and mastered by Nordberg and Kling at their own Smoke & Mirrors Productions in Spring Hill, Florida.

Album Review: American Terror : Influencer

ROX Review

American Terror : Influencer
Out on digital platforms.

Heavy punk/metal band American Terror, featuring members of Skid Row, Sugar Ray, Phunk Junkeez, and Grayson Manor, has just released their debut album, titled “Influencer”. The record is available to stream & purchase on all major digital platforms and has been released by EMP Label Group, the label founded by Megadeth bassist David Ellefson with industry executive Thom Hazaert.

“Influencer” arrives on the heels of the success of American Terror’s recent singles, “Judgement” and “She’s A Bitch”. These two tracks leading up to the full-length release quickly built momentum for the band, thanks to features on Spotify’s editorial and algorithmic playlists, in addition to spots on over 240 user playlists. With 16,000+ monthly listeners, 40,000+ streams, and 28,000+ YouTube views across multiple channels, prominent rock media outlets took notice and covered the band’s progress, including Blabbermouth, BraveWords, Ultimate-Guitar, and KNAC.

“Influencer” was engineered, produced, and mixed by vocalist Brad Cox (Grayson Manor) at his Black Paw Studios in Lawrenceville, GA. Brad is partners in the publishing company Black Paw Music with legendary producer Mike Clink (Guns N’ Roses, Megadeth, Metallica) and recently mixed Icarus Witch’s album, Goodbye Cruel World. The record was mastered by Troy Glessner (Disturbed, August Burns Red, Icon For Hire) at Spectre Studios in Seattle, WA.

The band’s studio and creative lineup includes guitarist Pat Valley (Grayson Manor), bassist Murphy Karges (ex-Sugar Ray), drummer Rob Hammersmith (Skid Row), and DJ Soulman (Phunk Junkeez), with bassist GK Via (Grayson Manor) stepping in live. GK and Brad had also previously teamed up in the hardcore band Superjak, which was managed by Billy Milano (Stormtroopers Of Death, M.O.D.).

Of course, Dave Ellefson knows good, hard, music when he hears it. He has a nose for great talent and American Terror are no exception. "Influencer" is a big "fuck you" to modern society in 10 loud, brash songs. From the opener "Judgement" to "PC Me" this album never lets up its verbal and musical assault on the world. Their sound and lyrics pull no punches, full of modern punk agnst with a sense of melody that is missing in some of this music which is great to hear. Megadeth's original punkier sound is there too but this is a punk album for the 2020s generation, sick and tired of the way social media and governments mess up their lives. Production is clean whilst maintaining the urgency of their songs. Vocalist Brad Cox has a great snarl and he is backed up by guitarist (who kicks ass) Pat Valley and others help out in the studio and live. I doubt they'll ever be short of people wanting to play with them!

A great, modern punk metal album for the times we are in. 9/10 Roxie.

ROX Interview: Minatox69

Italian metal band Minatox69 are a five piece from Vicenza. Their sound is aggressive, loud and fast. They've been around for a while now perfecting their audio assault and we though it was high time we pinned these guys down for an interview.

  1. So, Tell us a bit about your latest project Minatox69?

We formed in 2010 but reached the final line-up in 2018, giving birth to our current and typical sound.

The core of the project is to propose an aggressive style of metal music, shaped by different influences (death-black, thrash, hardcore, rock), with mathematical approach to the rythm and many changes in melodies. All this is related to psycho-social issues in our lyrics.

  1. And you’ve done a new track “Nothing new under the sun”. Tell us About that, Who’s involved and what’s the music all about?

We chose this song as first single and video to promote our upcoming album Collapse because we wanted to start with a strong sound impact and straight fast beats, as well as for the social meaning in lyrics. The theme is about the human ineptitude to changes, blinded by the utopia of a fairer society, we're destroying each other due to our greed. "Nothing new under the sun" means that we shouldn't be surprised by this drift, because the moral and social corruption has remained unchanged for centuries, if not millennia, and so it will be forever, it is in our human nature...there will always be victims!

  1. Have you done any full album?

In the last years, we produced some demo cds in 2010 (La foca nel deserto), 2012 (Hot Line) and 2019 (Zero) , but we can say that Collapse, recorded in January 2020 and coming out next month, is our first full concept album!

We tried to create a massive heavy sound that could embrace different melodies for different kinds of emotions, depending by the themes in the lyrics, from social criticism to psychological investigation.

The title Collapse represents the physical and moral collapse of This humanity,

still harnessed between hatred, greed, economic interests and social alienation…but, only by collapsing, everyone of us can learn to get up and change, overcoming difficulties ...

this album spread a message of distrust but also of hope: the coolest illusion of any living being!

  1. Are you all Metal-heads at hearth?

We grew up togheter playing music, having fun, becoming friends since we were kids, thousands of party and concerts, also strong and bad times, always listening and playing Metal, venting ourselves through music... surely we are not normal people... just if you see us together a few minutes and it seems a madhouse of idiocy, jokes and pranks (the Italian melodrama)! Hahaha

We don’t need to be Metal-heads, we live Metal-lifes!

  1. Any live shows planned?

Unfortunately it seems that the Corona Virus has screwed us all, both artists and fans, at least for this year 2020.

However, we're working hard to get back on stage hopefully by autumn-winter…we'll see, we're ready!

  1. what's next then for the band?

we are confident for the future, both for Minatox69 both for the situation about Corona Virus.

In June we will release our new album, promoted on many different channels

(webzine, radio, tv, streaming). We are also working on new videos that will be released in this

summer, waiting to return on stage when we will get the opportunity...some of us have already

started working on new riffs for a probable next album.

  1. You’re stuff has some obvious influences but who would you say was your biggest inspiration?

Let’s say we don’t have a favorite band for inspiration. We try to draw from all our musical

background, we always tried to create sounds and melodies that are a mix of

many sub-genres, death, trash, newmetal, groove, hardcore, sometimes punk or rock...the aim is to

mash the different styles and tastes that characterize everyone of us Minatox69.

If we really have to make some names, let’s say pillars like Sepultura, Pantera, Slayer, Slipknot,

Meshuggah, Tool & Faith No More.

  1. Favourite album?

It’s hard to name one, certainly an important album for us is Vulgar Display of Power: outspoken, powerful, without compromises.

  1. Who would you love to work with on another project given the chance?

It’s a very difficult question... we hope to work with artists and producers who can inspire the best of us…maybe it could be cool to work with Mike Patton for his fool-minded research of melodies and sonic atmosphere.

  1. Any advice for a musician or band just starting out?

We can just say that you have to put a lot of passion and willingness to make things work ... it takes tenacity, long time to devote, patience and trials. You have to manage the band like a family team, in which if everyone does their best, satisfaction and maybe success will come.

By the other side, It is very important to work with Professionals both in management and promotion, both in sound-technicals.

Never forget to thank the fans and involve them in every possible activity, in the social media or during the live performances.

Music in Lockdown! Secrets of Mariana

with Secrets of Mariana

Birmingham (UK) hard rock band Secrets of Mariana are, like all musicians around the world, affected by the virus lockdown. As part of our continuing investigation into how the virus and lockdown is affecting musicians, venues and promoters we asked them how they're coping.

We don’t think the lockdown has come at a good time for anyone really, especially those who work and earn a living from the live music industry. We really feel for the venues, sound engineers, light techs, bands and crew who are struggling right now as so many tours have had to be cancelled/rescheduled.

We’ve have gigs cancelled through May that we were excited to be performing at. Luckily, most of them have been rescheduled for next year but some have been cancelled all together. We’ve also got gigs booked from June to the end of the year that at this point we don’t know if they’re going to happen or not so it’s a scary time for venues and a situation that could potentially change the future of how we experience live events.

For us personally, we’re in the middle of writing EP number 3. We were hoping to be in the studio recording around now and planning to release new music towards the end of this year so it’s really knocked those plans back. We’re still writing individually at home but we’re dying to get back to our lock up room to keep writing together as that’s how we feel we work best.

It’s also challenging us to think outside of the box in terms of our social media. It’s a catch 22 situation between wanting to stay in touch with our followers and keeping the content relevant. When we have no new music to release and potentially no gigs for the rest of the year that becomes really hard as essentially that’s our core content. We also can’t live stream any gigs from home until the restrictions get lifted as we’re all under different roofs.

Although our social media content isn’t as busy as it was before lockdown we’re still busy behind the scenes. We’re video calling each other for catch ups and writing sessions every week or so and we’re thinking ahead by booking gigs and posting about events we’ve got planned for 2021. We’re also planning on doing a facebook live stream, which will be a Q and A / updates session on Sunday 31st May at 6:30pm.

All of us are taking this time to listen to new music and up skill in terms of our own instruments, learning new instruments, learning music theory (or brushing up on it) so there are definitely positives to the lockdown. We’re definitely going to be doing some long practise sessions when all this is over as we’re all missing playing music together! Plus with all these new ideas and influences we have, the new EP will probably have some new songs we never thought we’d write. Every cloud aye!

Hot new song from American Terror. Highly controversial and so fuckin great!

American Terror's new album "Influencer" is a scathing attack on the world and some
people's judgemental attitudes. The lead song "Judgement" is a killer!
American Terror was formed in early 2019 with a vision by vocalist Brad Cox to
create a band with an aggressive, unique sound, blending metal, punk, and hard
rock. Brad teamed up with longtime friend and guitarist Pat Valley to get the new
project off the ground. Completing the line-up is drummer Rob Hammersmith (Skid
Row), bassist Murphy Karges (Sugar Ray), and DJ Soulman (Phunk Junkeez).

With the band’s lineup in place, they set out to assemble a team to help with their
launch. Brad reached out to legendary producer Mike Clink (Guns N’ Roses,
Megadeth, Metallica). The two of them have collaborated on numerous projects
and have a publishing & music company, Black Paw Music. Mike’s enthusiam after
hearing the EP led to an introduction to Thom Hazaert at EMP Label Group (co-
founded by Megadeth bassist David Ellefson), and three weeks later, a deal was
signed. A soft release of their first EP in the Summer of 2019 was followed by
singles in the Spring of 2020. Momentum built quickly with features on Spotify’s
editorial and algorithmic playlists in addition to spots on over 230 user playlists,
exposing the band to a larger audience. With 16,000+ monthly listeners, 40,000+
streams, and 28,000+ YouTube views across multiple channels, prominent Rock
media took notice and covered the band’s progress, including Blabbermouth,
BraveWords, Ultimate-Guitar, and KNAC.

With the momentum leading up to their first full-length release and the world on
lockdown due to Covid-19, American Terror decided to focus on tracking new
material and shaping their sound. According to Brad, the band “elevated the
project to a new level and truly found their identity”. The American Terror story is
still being written and the band is excited for the next chapter!
