Incoming! Unity

Sometimes the seemingly most surprising idea can also be the most obvious: German-Italian melodic metal act The Unity, consisting of Gamma Ray members Henjo Richter (guitar), Michael Ehré (drums) and bandmates Gianbattista Manenti (vocals), Stef (guitar), Jogi Sweers (bass) and Sascha Onnen (keyboards) are set to release their first live album ‘The Devil You Know – The Unity Live’ on Steamhammer/SPV on 12 November 2021, their very own reaction to the lockdown, which has still not been fully lifted. “For months, music fans were denied the most important thing in their lives: live concerts! That's why we decided to give our fans exactly that, The Unity live,” explains Michael Ehré, adding: “Some may feel that it’s a little early to bring out this kind of recording after only three studio releases. But for us, this is both a salute to our fans and a consolation to make up for the many shows that didn't happen.”

‘The Devil You Know – The Unity Live’ was recorded between 2017 and 2020 during tours through Germany and a number of other European countries, at shows in small, overheated clubs with sweat dripping from the walls, but also at big festivals such as the Masters Of Rock in the Czech Republic and in Germany at the Karlsruhe Knockout Festival and the Bang Your Head in Balingen. The track listing focuses on material from their albums ‘The Unity’ (2017) and ‘Rise’ (2018), but in ‘We Don't Need Them Here’ also includes the single release from their third album ‘Pride’ (2020), a song which was discussed controversially at the time of its release and was one of the highlights of their tour with Rhapsody Of Fire. Talking of which: The Italian band was only one of several renowned groups with whom The Unity have toured extensively. Just as unforgettable were their concert tours alongside Sinner, Edguy and Axel Rudi Pell, where The Unity presented their outstanding skills every night, advertising their subsequent equally acclaimed headlining tours.

Due to its numerous concerts, it comes as no surprise to experts how rapidly the group has developed during the first four years of its existence. ‘The Devil You Know – The Unity Live’ shows excellently rehearsed musicians, bursting with enthusiasm and proving their impressive live presence not only with their greatest hits ‘No More Lies’, ‘The Storm’, ‘Never Forget’ and ‘The Willow Tree’, but also in direct contact with the audience, thanks in particular to frontman Gianbattista Manenti, who has evolved into a world-class vocalist, forming a tight unit with his technically accomplished band colleagues.

The first single release from ‘The Devil You Know - The Unity Live’ will be a live clip featuring ‘Close To Crazy’, with excerpts from The Unity’s performance at the Masters Of Rock in Vizovice, Czech Republic, in front of an audience of 22,000 and with comedy star Sascha Grammel and his famous puppet, the “eagle pheasant” Frederic Freiherr von Furchensumpf, putting in a guest appearance. The latter has been a self-confessed The Unity fan for years and frequently comes to the band’s shows. The album was mixed and mastered by Achim Köhler, and the front cover courtesy of Felipe Machado (Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Iron Savior) introduces The Unity’s new mascot Dave, who is honoured by the album title. Manenti says: “There is an English saying: ‘Better the devil you know than the devil you don`t’. We think this motto perfectly describes the situation the world currently finds itself in.”

Last but not least: The booklet, designed by Alexander Mertsch (Deep Purple, Saga etc.), presents an extensive photo collection with lots of live pictures and a number snapshots of fans, who will definitely like to remember the band`s great shows. Looking at it this way, for both band and fans alike, this live album is much more than simply a consolation prize!

Line-Up:
Gianbattista Manenti (vocals)
 Michael Ehre (drums)
 Henjo Richter (guitars)
 Stef E (guitar)
 Jogi Sweers (bass)
 Sascha Onnen (keyboards)

Rage in My Eyes

 Incoming!

Out Now! Brazilian Heavy Metal Rage In My Eyes New EP “Spiral”

L - R - Magnus Wichmann (Guitar), Francis Cassol (Drums),Jonathas Pozo (Vocals), Pedro Fauth (Bass)

Rage In My Eyes has been working on their second release under this name over the past year and are excited to finally bring it  to fruition. “Spiral” will join the 2019 full length “Ice Cell” under this current band name, however, the musicians also released 3 full length albums “The Sniper” (2012), “Skeletons Domination” (2008) and “Darkness & Light” (2006) under the name Scelerata, which ran from 2002-2018. The band explains the new EP:

“This EP was written and made during a pandemic. All band members suffered losses of loved ones during the pandemic, some directly related to covid, some not. Also due to covid, the band couldn’t get together in a practice room to jam to the tracks. Each member had to work on their part separately, which was something new within the band. Plus, some songs were being written and arranged during the recording sessions, so we felt it was being made in real-time. All of the above impacted lyrics and the songwriting. We like to think of this EP as a way to say farewell to our dear loved ones and as a spiral of emotions that keeps coming and going.”

It’s evident that creating a journey for the listener is of utmost importance for the band; they explain that the tracklist was carefully thought out and placed in particular order and the EP is best enjoyed from beginning to end. The EP is five songs long with a total running time of under 20 minutes for a nice succinct burst of Brazilian heavy metal flavour that will leave listeners wanting more from this long-running and highly talented group of musicians.

Lightly proggy, and technically approachable, Rage In My Eyes brings a South American flair to traditional heavy metal. They are recommended for fans of Symphony X, Iron Maiden and Metallica.

The new EP is out as of October 15, 2021 and available on Rageinmyeyes.bandcamp.comSpotify.

About:
RAGE IN MY EYES introduces to the world a unique kind of music. Being from southern Brazil, the band shows a side of the country most people don’t know about. Blending heavy/prog metal with elements of milonga – which is a music genre from southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina – the band presents new sound to the metal genre.

The band’s first album “Ice Cell” was recorded in 2017 and 2018, partially in Los Angeles due to drummer Francis Cassol’s move to the city and partially in their native Porto Alegre, Brazil.

For 16 years the band went under the name Scelerata, which had a huge history in the Brazilian heavy metal scene. The band had three albums released worldwide, including the internationally acclaimed album The Sniper – partially recorded in Germany, at the Blind Guardian studio – that featured guest appearances from Paul DiAnno (former Iron Maiden) and Andi Deris (Helloween).

Scelerata was also Paul DiAnno’s official Brazilian backing band from 2009 to 2014, playing 50+ shows with this heavy metal icon. With this huge background, the musicians are now aiming for the future.

RAGE IN MY EYES have teamed up with some of the best professionals in the heavy metal business to deliver a head-turning EP in 2021 entitled “Spiral” to follow the success of their 2019 full-length “Ice Cell”. The new EP will feature plenty of material for all different types of metal lovers. It has great guitar riffs, fast drum parts, intricate instrumental parts plus powerful yet melodic vocals.

The EP was written and made during a Covid pandemic. All band members suffered losses of loved ones during the pandemic, some directly related to Covid, some not. Also due to Covid, the band couldn’t get together in a practice room to jam the material. Each member had to work on their part separately, which was something new within the band. Plus, some songs were being written and arranged during the recording sessions, so they felt it was being made in real time. All of the above impacted the EP’s lyrics and songwriting. They like to think of this record as a way to say farewell to their dear loved ones and as a spiral of emotions that keeps coming and going during Covid times.

RAGE IN MY EYES’ new EP “Spiral” is due out October 15th, 2021.

Shared Stage with:
Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Dream Theater, Kamelot, Gamma Ray, Angra, Edguy

WITH SPECIAL GUESTS PISTON

TICKETS VIA WWW.BADTOUCHROCKS.CO.UK

Stepping into the brand-new Marshall Studio with legendary producer Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Gun, Feeder), Bad Touch have recorded a rocking cover of Allman Brothers classic Midnight Rider.

Vocalist Stevie Westwood said “The original is one of mine and Chris Sheldon’s all-time favourite songs, and I’m thrilled with how our version came out. It’s got harmonies out the wazoo, it’s heavy, dirty and Rob’s guitar solo is a belter. It might bother the Allman Brothers purists, but hopefully everyone loves it one eighth of as much as I do.” Speaking on the upcoming tour, he added “I honestly cannot describe to you the feeling of being back at it with my brothers, we’re overjoyed. We’re fired up and cannot wait to be playing to all of you.”

Released ahead of their November 2021 tour, Bad Touch were one of the first bands to enter the new state of the art Marshall Studio recording studio.

The Marshall Studio is a state-of-the-art recording facility located at Marshall Amplification’s global headquarters in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire built around a 70’s Neve 8048, heavily modified and customised for Marshall by Neve specialist Blake Devitt. Stevie Westwood described working there as “an amazing opportunity. After such an awful 18 months for the music business, to be invited to such a space was a real gift… and we thank Chris for making our tunes sound interstellar.”

Bad Touch will tour the UK in November and December 2021, previously rescheduled from April 2021 (all original tickets remain valid). Special guests on all shows except Leo’s Red Lion are PISTON.

Tickets are now available from www.badtouchrocks.co.uk/gigs-tours.

The 15-date tour includes their hometown Norwich (Nov 17), Newcastle (Nov 19), Glasgow (Nov 20), Southampton (Dec 1) and London (Dec 2), plus many more dates.

Bad Touch will perform songs from their critically acclaimed current studio album “Kiss the Sky”, as well as songs from their vast catalogue.
