Bravewords Now Streaming Infrared’s Classic 80s Thrash Album “From The Black Swamp”

Canada’s Infrared has a new album ready for listeners who can tune into Bravewords for a heavy dose of no holds barred, traditional 80s thrash. The quartet of Kirk Gidley (guitar), Alain Groulx (drums), Mike Forbes (bass) and Armin Kamal (vocals/guitar) initially started on their journey back in 1986 and through trials, tribulations and a very long hiatus, they have arrived here with a third full-length album “From the Black Swamp”.
Infrared is the kind of band that writes exactly the songs needed for the album, working on them meticulously until they are up to standard. Each of the twelve songs is a standalone banger and cohesive with the rest of the album. A definite trip back in time, the band explains the album in their own words:
“With 12 songs and an hour of brand-new music, this album is the most personal yet. It is a rollercoaster ride of riff after riff, thundering bass, relentless drumming, and heavy lyrical content. The band hopes these personal songs resonate with fans and attract new listeners who share a love and passion for classic metal songs delivered with a modern touch and production.”
The songs on the album are a collaborative effort between the band members, it was produced, mixed and mastered by Kamal and the album artwork was done by Nate MacDonald. Infrared has shared the stage with bands such as Anvil, Sacrifice, Razor, and Venom Inc., and looks forward to supporting this album with a tour as soon as possible.
Staying true to their roots, this album is for those who like the 80’s Bay area sound mixed with classic metal influences such as Maiden, Priest and Sabbath.

If Infrared sounds like classic thrash metal, that’s because they are! And rightfully so since they were making music as teenagers in the mid to late 80s back when the Big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax) were just becoming famous. They literally lived and breathed that scene as it was happening and garnered national attention in Canada through their song and video for Thoughts Caught (in Between).
Then....life happened and members took different paths and the music, that was hot in the underground metal scene and loved by demo tape traders near and far, went dormant for 27 years! In 2014 Infrared reunited with 3 of the original 4 members (Kirk, Armin, and Alain), and since original bassist Shawn Thompson had moved to Miami, they recruited Mike Forbes. They worked hard to release their first full-length album, No Peace (2016), featuring songs written all those years ago. 2018 saw Infrared release their sophomore album, Saviours, featuring 8 new songs coming in at just over 50 minutes of music! That was followed up by their 2019 EP, Back to the Warehouse featuring the last of their 80's written songs and released as a bridge to their next full-length album. Now, in 2021, Infrared release their most mature album yet, From the Black Swamp. The album features 12 songs for one hour of hard-hitting and emotionally charged songs steeped in the themes of betrayal and malicious sabotage in all walks of life, from societal to interpersonal. With several high-profile concerts under their belts including opening for Anvil, Sacrifice, Razor, Venom Inc., Dirkschneider, Flotsam and Jetsam, DBC, E-Force, and Atrophy, Infrared raises their horns and looks forward to getting out there to meet and befriend metal lovers everywhere!

Velvet Chains drop new album
The band Velvet Chains, which has been gaining international highlight and had excellent repercussion in South America and Mexico, launches its debut album entitled 'Icarus'. The work has 10 songs, including the singles 'Tattooed' and 'Strangelove', and is now available on all streaming platforms.

The first single 'Tattooed' was highlighted in the media by the special guest appearance of Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus. The song received an impressing music video, directed by the experienced Dean Karr, who worked with music giants such as Ozzy Osbourne, Velvet Revolver and Iron Maiden. The second single, 'Strangelove', kept the audience's attention, and both tracks got more than 150,000 streams in just a few days.
The album also features guest appearances by Jeff Rouse (bass) and Mike Squires(guitar), both from Duff McKagan's LOADED, on the catchy 'Pass The Disease' which also have a beautiful lyric video.
'Icarus' is an intimate and emotional album, written in partnership with multi-platinum composer Drew Lawrence. Recording took place in Las Vegas and Seattle, sound engineering work was carried out by Greg Williamson, while Tristan Hardin did the mixing and mastering.
From Las Vegas to the World
The band Velvet Chains was formed in the American city of Las Vegas in 2018, and 'Icarus' is their first album.
The group's musical proposal placed them as one of the highlights of the new generation of American hard rock, by uniting breathtaking tempos, a solid rhythmic section and catchy melodies, the kind that stick in your head.
Guided by what was best done in the grunge and hard rock of the 90s and 00s, Velvet Chainshas as reference groups such as Guns N 'Roses, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, among many others from different styles, whose elements are condensed to create a unique and characteristic sound of the style that changed the way young people listen to rock music.
The lyrical content along with the musical quality is another important factor for Velvet Chains: "Our goal was to write songs with important lyrics while covering different genres within Rock from the 90s to the 00s. You will find a bit of heavy rock, a bit of grunge, a bit of alternative rock, and much more on this album”, explains Nils, founder of the band.

Lillian Axe help launch a new record label
New rock label Global Rock Records launched by The Store For Music; signing of legendary US rock band Lillian Axe announced!
Lillian Axe gained international recognition with albums on MCA Records and IRS Records in the late 80’s and early 90’s. They have toured with Alice Cooper, RATT, Accept and many others, as well as rocking hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide at major festivals such as Sweden Rock, Firefest, and Rocklahoma. Though the music has evolved and progressed in the decades since, the band still treats their audiences to MTV singles like 'Dream Of A Lifetime', 'Show A Little Love', and their version of the Badfinger classic 'No Matter What'. The band will headline the launch of the new ident created by The Store, namely Global Rock Records which will seek to release not only catalog titles but potent new releases from established heavy rock and metal based artists. This will include a number of Lillian Axe back catalogue titles for re-release as well as the forthcoming new Lillian Axe album 'From Womb To Tomb' , which is currently being recorded. The album master rights of the titles include: Poetic Justice Psychoschizophrenia Fields of Yesterday Live 2002 Waters Rising Sad Day on Planet Earth Deep Red Shadows Days Before Tomorrow One Night in the Temple Plus: Steve Blaze solo album 'Random Acts Of Blindness'. All which will form the basis of initially a career spanning multi disc anthology plus reissues of all listed album titles with bonus tracks from Steve Blaze's personal archives prior to the release of the new album. Many albums from other notable artists have been already licensed including Impellitteri, Jack Starr, Bangalore Choir, Bob Kulick, Thrasher, Killing Machine, Rhino, Code Black, Beyond and many more to be announced. “We are extremely proud to be associated with Lillian Axe and Steve Blaze” writes Managing Director and co-owner Brian Adams. “Their history in the marketplace is second to none and we intend to revamp all earlier releases while we will plan a strong marketing campaign around the new album.
