In Profile: Minneriket

This week we delve into mind of Norwegian black metal musician Minneriket

I formed Minneriket in 2014, based on ideas that go even further back. Cant believe its been 10 years of music under this banner already.

Minneriket is a one-man solo band consisting only of me, Stein Akslen. I also work with various session musicians from time to time, but in the end Minneriket is a solo project.

Ive beenand still am, involved in several other bands. Most notable is Blodsgard, where we are currently working on finishing up our new album these days. But Ive also played in various punk rock bands, done some dark ambient and also done vocals for two albums with Æra.

Like rolling thunder on a hilltop, skies gathering and rain hitting the mountain surface. I label the music Romantic Black Metal. It has a gothic approach, varying between the minimalistic and violent and to the symphonic and bombastic. Minneriket is best enjoyed if youre into atmospheric and contemplative music.

I come from a tradition of Norwegian Black Metal, so thats of course an influence, but I search more into classical, ambient, punk and hiphop when discovering new music. Alternative rock and movie scores are also important to me.

Ive been working on the new Minneriket album for about 2 years now, and a few teasers have been posted on the Instagram feed. Im also looking into doing a re-release of the previous album (Gjennom meg går ingen til hvile) on different formats since itsold out.
Minneriket does not play live.

I love OCR-races (and other races), and often run under the banner Black Metal Fitness

Not superstitions, but plenty of rituals. Itimportant to give meaning to your actions. But no shows.

I feel lucky that I get to collaborate with some very talented and friendly individuals, so honestly no, I dont feel like Im missing out on anything regarding musicians. There have been a few producers Ive been interested in working with tough, but it fell apart. Mostly due to my own egoI mean, no comment.
